Now that COVID-19 vaccines are slowly becoming available, employers have been questioning not only whether they can mandate the vaccine but what benefits they can provide (or have to provide) to employees getting the vaccine.
Saskatchewan has become the first province to require employers to provide employees with up to 3 hours of paid time off to get vaccinated. These changes have been made in an effort to encourage everyone to get vaccinated against the ongoing COVID-19 virus.
This entitlement will take effect immediately.
Now that Saskatchewan has taken this first step in addressing employees and vaccines, it is possible that other provinces will follow suit. Keep an eye out for future e2r® Alerts to stay up to date on any other COVID-19 related developments.
